What is Install Support Service?

Hi,

I want to ask what install support service and how can I benefit from it for updater?

Hello Jassim,

The installation of this service  prepares the package to support the installation of updates without elevation on restricted user accounts.

Please note that your main installation package will require administrator rights. In this installation package you need to configure it as it is described in the Handle updates without elevation article and further updates will not require any elevation because the support service which will handle updates without elevation is installed.

I might have followup question - when is the service actually run? I have done couple of tests and the service did not start and is set to Manual. Thank you.

Hello Petr,

Please note that if the service is set to Manual, you have to manually start it.

You can change its' Startup type to "Automatic" in order for it to automatically start.
