Did this feature ever get implemented ? I see in the iis configuration you can set it to low, medium (pooled) or high (isolated), but they all still end up in the default app pool.

/rebuild function when using commands file ?

My build system calls AI with /execute and a commands file the sets the version, then does a 'build -force'. Is it possible to get the /rebuild functionality (clean build don't use cached files) when using a commands file ?

Never mind, I got to to work. Amongst all my fiddling around I had changed the name of one of the registry keys, so my searches were failing to find the data I had written. Still needs some tweaking but basically works.

Creating registry entries question

I just tried to create some registry keys with my installer, but they got assigned only to the current feature. Is there a way to add these keys whenever the installer is run, regardless of which feature(s) are selected ?

Custom action output in logfile ?

Is it possible to capture the stdout of a custom action into the installer log ? I'm having some problems but I can't tell exactly what's going on because I don't see the output of my program (which is basically a console mode compiled perl script).

After reviewing the log file, I can see it switch to REMOVE mode, and it removes all the files, but it's still trying to execute the install time custom actions.

There is a version of my installer on some of our systems that keeps trying to run at least one of the 'Commit' time custom actions on uninstall. At what point in the installation process are the xml edits applied ? What I'm trying to do is collect info from the user via my dialog boxes, than make changes to web.config (such as resolve hostnames and turn custom errors on or off). Is this possible ?

Is there a way to get it to recognize xml files that don't have a .xml extension ? If I add 'Web.config' it doesn't give me the option of adding it in Windows Installer format, though it does show up as 'XML Configuration File' in the files pane.
Edit: Never mind, I just found the 'Import' menu.

I've been having this problem too. I think it started for me in AI6.0, because I'm pretty sure they were being deleted in 5.whatever that I started with.
